Abstract This research was conducted in Loksado District, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Demographic changes and land use that occurred District resulted a decrease the area of farmland. condition gave rise to conditions field farmers meeting household needs. study aimed analyze livelihood strategies farm farmer households applied. is based on application qualitative research. Informants this were shifting cultivation from Dayak Meratus Tribe Haratai Village, Loklahung which selected by snowball sampling . The results indicate there are three for farmers: accumulation, consolidation, survival. dominant strategy base agricultural diversification meet selection related socio-economic household, resources (the assets owned, domestic workers working age), job diversification.
